Abstract

Zeólitas são aluminosilicatos cristalinos microporosos, de origem natural ou sintética, estruturados em redes cristalinas tri-dimensionais bem definidas, compostas de tetraedros SiO4 e AlO4. A estrutura das zeólitas apresenta canais e cavidades interconectadas de dimensões moleculares, nas quais se encontram os íons de compensação, moléculas de água ou outros adsorvatos. Visando a obtenção de um material com essas características, esse trabalho teve como objetivo a síntese de zeólita do tipo A, a partir de um caulim fornecido pela Imerys localizada na cidade de Ipixuna no nordeste do Pará, região Amazônica que apresenta jazidas do tipo sedimentar com o mineral em seu estado mais puro. As zeólitas foram formadas através de sínteses hidrotérmicas utilizando o caulim, realizada no interior de autoclaves de aço inoxidável revestidas internamente de teflon, a uma temperatura de 100°C, por diferentes tempos e caracterizada por difração de raios X e Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura. Através das imagens e difratogramas de raios X, verificou-se que houve a formação da fase zeólita esperada e sodalita.

 

Zeolites are microporous crystalline aluminosilicates of natural or synthetic origin, structured in three-dimensional lattices well defined, composed of SiO4 and AlO4 tetraed. The structure of zeolites has interconnected channels and cavities of molecular dimensions, in which they are offset ions, molecules of water or other adsorvatos. In order to obtain a material with these characteristics, this work aimed to the synthesis of zeolite type A, from a kaolin supplied by Imerys located at Ipixuna city in the northeastern of Pará, this amazon region presents this type of sedimentary deposits mineral in its purest state. Zeolites were formed by hydrothermal synthesis using kaolin, held with in stainless steel autoclaves lined internally with PTFE at a temperature of 100°C, for different times and has characterizated by X-ray diffrnactions and Scannig Electron Microscopy. Through the images and X-ray diffractometry, it was found that there was formation of the expected zeolite phase and sodalite.
