Abstract
Increasing international competition, particularly in highly industrialized countries, leads to the force to defend positions of technological leadership by innovative product developments. Product development is unfeasible without developing materials. Material development enforces the development of new manufacturing methods. The spray deposition, a process whose development commenced in the late 60s, has now reached a stage that permits the employment in production plants to produce semis of new aluminum, copper, and steel alloys as well as of superalloys. Plants are being operated in the USA, Japan, and in Europe. The lecture is aimed at providing an abstract on the actual state of process development and shall give information about new products, the development of which was made possible by developing the spray deposition.
