Abstract

Main influencing parameter for continuous casting process and quality of cast product is superheat of liquid steel which is also having a direct impact on productivity. Conventionally Dip temperature method is used for finding Liquid Steel Temperature in tundish which directly indicates the superheat content of liquid steel during casting. The below mentioned paper describes the earlier used dip type thermocouple system for measuring liquid steel temperature and consequently the reasons for switching over to the new system – “Accumetrix”. The benefits experienced are described in details which includes better operational control, higher productivity, better quality, more safer practices and are supported by the model study results.
