Abstract
The 1980's have brought increased challenges to the world's steel industry. Changing demand, quota restrictions, increased production costs and changing technologies are now as relevant to daíly steel making activities as taking a metallurgical analysis of steel. Spraying Systems Co., based in Wheaton, Illinois, U.S.A.. has supplied spray nozzles to the steel industry for over 45 years. This long term relationship has resulted in spray nozzles specifically tailored to all phases of steel making. An important location for nozzles has been the continuous casting machine. Recent changes have required some steel mills to incorporate an airlmist cooling system in place of more traditional hydraulic sprays
