Abstract
Self-reducing briquettes containing fines from Blast Furnace and BOF sludges and coke fines together were reduced under argon at 950°C (1223 K), 1000°C (1273K), 1100°C (1373K), 1200°C (1473K) and 1300°C (1573K). The average apparent activation energy for the reaction occurring inside briquettes was calculated as of 177±30 kJ/mol. The results suggest that Boudouard reaction suffered a catalysis process by the metallic iron contained from the beginning in the BOF sludges and also indicates that Boudouard reaction is the controlling step of the chemical reaction within the investigated temperatures.
