Abstract

Upon analysing the global developments and trends in the market for cold rolled strip Danieli recognised the increasing need to improve plant perforrnance, flexibility and overall product quality. In consequence the new Danieli 6-high 3C mill concept was developed providing a superior range of control with an original design for the roll crossing actuator. The key features of the Danieli ô-high 3C mill stand comprise; a 6-high mill configuration with intermediate roll crossing for a superior profile control range work roll and intermediate roll - positive and negative bending work roll shifting with shaped rolls for effective edge drop control a selective cooling package integrated automation and control logic - Levels 1 and 2 a quick, flexible roll change system The crossing of the intermediate rolls is automatically activated when the product characteristics or operation conditions are extreme and the required quality and tolerances are no longer achievable with the conventional. The operational flexibility and efficient distribution of forces specific to the Danieli 6-high 3C mill enables rationalisation in the use of the stand actuators resulting in lower production and maintenance costs and greatly improved product quality, plant efficiency and throughput.
