Abstract

The results of experimental investigations are presented, which demonstrate that in certain range of supercooling the dynamic of the austenite-to-ferrite transition is essentially multi-stage. Ferrite grains of the first generation are nucleated on the austenite grain boundaries. The second and following ferrite grains generations are originated on the Feγ/Feα interphase. It was shown that plastic deformation at the temperatures below Ar₃ increases the rate of Feγ→Feα transition significantly. The conversion degree may essentially exceed the thermodynamically balanced value. Data are presented on the plastic deformation influence on the kinetics of Feγ→Feα transition. It was demonstrated that pulse deformation is an effective method for the polymorphous transformation acceleration.
