The growing energy demand and the progressive deterioration of electrical transmission systems have intensified the search for Al-based conductive alloys with enhanced mechanical performance. In this context, this study investigated the relationship between fracture morphology (dimples) and tensile strength limit in Al-2%Si alloys reinforced with 0.1% CNTs, before and after heat treatment at 230 °C for 1 hour. The samples were produced by conventional casting, followed by cold rolling, and then characterized by tensile tests and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the incorporation of CNTs promoted an increase in the tensile strength limit, reaching approximately 235 MPa, associated with deep dimples, indicating greater ductility. On the other hand, after heat treatment, a reduction in the tensile strength limit to 201 MPa was observed, along with changes in the fracture surface morphology, including the dimples being less deep and regions with more pronounced coalescence, suggesting weakening. It is concluded that the morphology of the dimples is correlated with the mechanical behavior of the alloy, being a relevant microstructural indicator to assess the effect of heat treatments in Al-Si nanocomposites.
