Compound forming molten alloys, both ionic and covalent, show very often large deviations from ideal liquid solutions. It is shown that the associated solution model may be as useful as other currently used models to reproduce the experimental behavior observed in these molten alloys, and it may provide, even, a simpler view of the nature of the relevant interactions in the liquid solution phase. Experimental thermodynamic data in the rich metal part of metal-oxygen systems, like Cu-O are presented and analyzed with the associated solution model.
