Resumo

Estudou-se o comportamento em corrosão-fadiga de cinco aços inoxidáveis ferríticos – 409A, 430E, 439A, 441A e F17T – utilizados na indústria automotiva no sistema de exaustão. A diferença relevante entre os aços é a presença dos elementos de liga Nb e Ti. Os ensaios de corrosão-fadiga foram realizados em dois níveis de carregamento axial com amplitude constante numa razão de carga de R = 0,1. A freqüência utilizada nos ensaios foi de 30Hz. Os experimentos foram realizados num meio corrosivo, onde foi utilizado um condensado sintético de pH

 

In this research, the fatigue behavior of five ferritic stainless steels – 409A, 430E, 439A, 441A and F17T – used in the automotive industry has been studied. These steels are candidates for use in exhaust systems. The main difference of the steels is the content of Nb and Ti as alloy elements. Constant axial load amplitude fatigue tests were performed under a stress ratio of R = 0.1. Testing frequency was 30Hz. The experiments were performed in a corrosion atmosphere, where a sintetic condensate (pH = 3,0) simulating the automotive’s exhaust system gases was used. A comparative between the five ferritic stainless steels was made using the Wöhler’s curves (S-N). Results showed that the fatigue resistance of the 430E steel stabilized with Nb was superior among the other steels. The fatigue- corrosion resistance of the 409A steel was superior among the other steels.
