Resumo

Ensaios de reatividade de materiais carbonosos foram realizados utilizando uma balança termo-gravimétrica usando dois métodos alternativos: a oxidação com CO2 e a redução de minério de ferro a 900°C, temperatura em que a reação de Boudouard é a etapa controladora do processo. Os resultados em ambos métodos forma similares mas algumas inconsistências ocorreram as quais serão investigadas em trabalhos futuros. A 1100°C o negro de fumo é o material mais reativo pelo método da oxidação com CO2 enquanto que a 900°C o carvão vegetal é o mais reativo por ambos métodos. Estes resultados indicam a aplicabilidade dos métodos utilizados. As energias de ativação aparentes encontradas pelo ensaio de oxidação foram 15, 38, 45 e 33 kcal/mol respectivamente para o carvão vegetal, coque de petróleo, grafite e negro de fumo.

 

Reactivity experiments of carbonaceous materials were carried out in thermo- gravimetric apparatus using two alternative methods: oxidation with CO2 and reduction of iron ore at 900°C, temperature where the Boudouard reaction is the controlling mechanism. The results of both methods were quite similar but some inconsistencies showed up which will be investigated in future works. At 1100°C carbon black is the most reactive material according to the oxidation with CO2 experiments. At 900°C charcoal is the most reactive material according both methods. These results indicate the applicability of the utilized methods. Apparent activation energy of 15, 38, 45 and 33 kcal/mol were found for the oxidation with CO2 respectively for charcoal, petroleum coke, graphite and carbon black.
