Resumo

O tratamento criogênico vem se apresentado como uma etapa importante no tratamento térmico de aços ferramenta, sendo a ele atribuída uma considerável melhora na resistência ao desgaste. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar os resultados iniciais obtidos no estudo deste assunto. Serão apresentadas as curvas de revenimento obtidas para amostras com e sem a etapa de criogênica. Amostras de um aço ferramenta AISI D2 seguiram duas rotas paralelas de tratamento térmico para determinação da curva de revenimento. Na primeira delas as amostras foram submetidas a têmpera + revenimento e na segunda a têmpera + alívio de tensões + tratamento criogênico + revenimento. As temperaturas de austenitização foram 1.010°C, 1.040°C e 1.100oC, do alívio de tensões foi 130oC, do tratamento criogênico -196oC e do revenimento variou entre 400°C e 600oC. Os resultados encontrados não foram os mesmos apresentados pela literatura. De uma maneira geral, não houve mudança nas curvas de revenimentos das amostras com e sem tratamento criogênico, exceto para as amostras tratadas a 1.100°C devido a alta fração volumétrica de austenita retida.

 

The cryogenic treatment has been showed as an important stage in the heat treatment of tool steels, it has been attributed to it a considerable improvement in the wear resistance. The aim of this work is to present the initial results got in the study of this subject. It will be shown the tempering curves for specimens with and without the cryogenic stage. Specimens of an AISI D2 tool steel followed two parallel routes for the determination of the tempering curves. In the first one, the specimens were submitted to quench + tempering, and in the second one, to quench + stress relief + cryogenic treatment + tempering. The austenitizing temperatures were 1010, 1040 e 1100°C, the stress relief temperature was 130°C, the cryogenic temperature was -196°C and the tempering temperature varied between 400 and 600°C. The found results were not the same as the showed by the literature. In a general way, there were not changes in the tempering curves for the specimens with and without cryogenic treatment, exception for the samples heat treated at 1100°C due to the high volumetric fraction of retained austenite.
