Resumo

O presente trabalho procurou avaliar a formação de fase intermetálica em temperaturas variando de 850°C a 950°C, por tempos de 1 a 5 minutos, em tratamentos isotérmicos de amostras de pequenas dimensões imersas em banho de alumínio fundido, garantindo rápido aquecimento destas. Constatou-se que o uso de imagens de elétrons retroespalhados permite a distinção das fases intermetálicas e nitretos, o que viabiliza o uso destas imagens em análises automatizadas de estereologia quantitativa de aços inoxidáveis dúplex e superdúplex. Verificou-se que existe formação mensurável de fase intermetálica já com 1 min de envelhecimento nas temperaturas de 850oC a 950oC, não sendo no entanto possível a distinção desta fase intermetálica em sigma ou chi. Os nitretos observados provavelmente formaram-se nas etapas de elaboração do aço, não havendo alterações significativas em sua fração volumétrica com o progresso dos envelhecimentos impostos neste trabalho.

 

This work studied the intermetallic phases formation during aging between 850°C and 950°C, for periods up to 5 min; those treatments were conducted in liquid aluminum bath, allowing fast heating of the small sized specimens. It was found that backscattered electron images could be used in the automatized routines of quantitative stereology of intermetallic phases and nitrides found in duplex and superduplex stainless steels. A measurable intermetallic phase fraction was observed just after 1 min aging in the studied temperatures, but it was not possible to distinguish sigma and chi phases from the observed intermetallic phase. Nitrides were also observed, but they are probably formed in the preparation of the steel, since there was no significant influence of aging on its volume fraction.
