Resumo

A Oficina de Cantaria de Ouro Preto tem no decorrer dos últimos cinco anos resgatando o conjunto de saberes e técnicas que compunha a milenar arte da cantaria em terras mineiras no período colonial, conhecimentos perdidos no avançar do século XX e só recentemente retomados por homens como José Raimundo Pereira, o Seu Juca, uns dos últimos oficiais canteiros do Estado de Minas Gerais. Surgida nessa conjuntura, a Oficina traçou como estratégias a pesquisa histórica e de materiais, a formação de novos trabalhadores habilitados e a preservação patrimonial direcionada para os trabalhos de educação patrimonial. Trazendo para o seu interior, pesquisadores das mais diversas áreas, como engenheiros, historiadores, educadores, especialistas e artistas. Entretanto, no momento nos deteremos ao resgate e formação de mão-de-obra capacitada para atuar na restauração de obras em cantaria através das aulas ministradas na Oficina. Dentre os resultados obtidos pelo projeto, destacamos a formação de quatro novos canteiros, que continuam a praticar suas habilidades, bem como a atuação da Oficina na restauração de peças de cantaria da cidade. Destaca-se, ainda, a divulgação dessa arte através de oficinas realizadas nas cidades de Belo Horizonte, Diamantina, Juiz de Fora, Uberaba e Ouro Preto.

 

The stonemasonry Workshop of Ouro Preto has been in the last five years rescuing the wisdom and technical that composed the millenarian art of stonemasonry in Minas Gerais’s land of the colonial period, lost knowledge throughout the XX century that was recently retaken by men as José Raimundo Pereira, master Juca, who is one of the last official stonemason of Minas Gerais State. The Workshop has as its strategies, the historical and material research, the formation of the new qualified workers and the patrimonial preservation focused on works of patrimonial education. It involved researchers of the most several areas as engineers, historians, educators, specialists and artists. However, in the moment the focus is the rescue of stonemasonry and qualified labor formation to act in arts restoration to apply what they learned at the workshop. Among the results obtained by the project, can be mentioned the four new stonemasons that has already concluded the course and are still continuing practicing their abilities, as well as the performance of the Workshop in the stonemasonry arts restoration of the city. We also can mention as a good result, the popularization of that art through workshops in the cities of Belo Horizonte, Diamantina, Juiz de Fora, Uberaba and Ouro Preto.
