Resumo

Neste trabalho são investigados os efeitos de velocidade de lingotamento; geometria, profundidade de imersão e inclinação das portas de saída da SEN sobre a estabilidade do fluxo de aço, formação de vórtices e emulsificação metal-escória de molde na região do menisco. Deste modo, os efeitos destes parâmetros operacionais sobre o comportamento fluidodinâmico e instabilidade da interface metal-escória, na região do menisco, são discutidos e demonstrados via modelagem física e matemática. Através da aplicação da técnica de PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry), no modelo físico do molde, as características do fluxo na região das portas da SEN e da região do menisco foram mapeadas, servindo para a validação dos resultados obtidos pelo modelo matemático CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamic).

This work investigated the effect of casting speed, geometry, immersion depth and inclination of the ports of SEN on vortex formation and metal-slag emulsification in the meniscus region. Thus, the effects of these parameters on the fluid dynamic behavior and instability of the slag-metal interface at the meniscus in the region are discussed and demonstrated by physical and mathematical modeling. By applying the PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) technique the flow characteristics of the region nearby the SEN ports and meniscus regions have been mapped in order to validate the results obtained by the mathematical model CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics).
