In this paper, high quality fired fluxed hematite pellets were produced by simulating grate-kiln process to supply the feed for BF (blast furnace) from some imported Brazil hematite ore fines. Hematite assaying 66.08%TFe, 1.24%SiO2 and other lower impurities with 98.29% particle size passing 0.074 mm and the specific surface areas of 1,585 cm2/g. The hematite fines were mixed with 0.6% bentonite balled at 0.8 basicity and 8.5% moisture for 13min in disc pelletizer, and the drop numbers, compressive strength and thermal shock temperature of green balls reach 4.2 times/0.5 m, 13N per pellet and 390°C, respectively. After the green balls drying in the oven, the dry pellets were preheated at 1,000°C for 9 min and then fired at 1,220°C for 6min in electric tube furnace, and the compressive strength of fired pellets reaches 2561 Newton per pellet. Therefore, these pellets are high quality burden for blast furnace due to the excellent metallurgical performances.
