Abstract
Cold bonded briquettes; BOF; Reuse; Binder; Strength.
Good strength to cold bonded briquettes which allows lowest fines generation is one of the most desired properties. The aim of this paper is to find possible causes of excessive degradation in the briquettes used in the converter in Ternium Siderar. This study includes monitoring the process from raw materials, briquetting process, curing conditions and final product. Laboratory tests were carried out to find relationship within parameters process, such as moisture of the premix, mixing of raw materials, the amount of binder and briquetting conditions, on the final strength achieved in the agglomerates. The addition of portland cement on the briquette composition was a good alternative to control of the fines generation.
